Advanced Meditations

OK. This is a trick.

Advanced meditations are just complicated. And complicated meditations do not help anyone solve anything.

The more complicated you make a meditation, the less likely you are to be able to remain focused.

Each level of complexity gives your mind the opportunity to remain in control.

When you attempt a complicated meditation of any kind, you’re doing that because you have a goal. Your ego has a goal. Something it’s trying to achieve.

Take away that goal.

Simplify, simplify, simplify.

If you don’t agree with me, that’s fine. But ask yourself, “WHAT is the thing disagreeing with Mat?” You will find that my statement doesn’t align with the position your ego has taken. So it got upset and defended itself.

Drop the ego. Let go of the goal.

Simplify, simplify, simplify.

If you’re still reading this, then the chances are, you are “seeking” to attain something or “seeking” liberation from some suffering. But understand that, attainment of your goal, or liberation from suffering come to you when you stop looking.

Drop your expectations and take a look at some of the simple meditations I have described.

If you feel that the simple meditations are not working for you. Ask yourself if you’ve tried hard enough to let go? Trust the process.

All simple meditations are repetitive. They actively use your mind instead of letting it ramble on uncontrolled.

Sitting quietly without moving allows awareness of your body to fade away, and the repetitive nature of the meditation gently lulls your mind to sleep.

What’s left after that?

Pure consciousness.

Simplify, simplify, simplify my friend.
